Operational Energy Modelling

Operational energy studies can be used in line with the CIBSE TM54 methodology to more precisely evaluate the energy consumption and carbon emissions of a building, and help bridge the gap between modelled energy consumption and actual energy consumption. We use state of the art building physics tools that utilise dynamic thermal modelling to estimate the energy use for HVAC systems, lighting, domestic hot water and equipment loads whilst considering realistic occupancy profiles and detailed building fabric constructions. This allows us to present a more in depth energy analysis when compared to a standard EPC or SBEM assessment. Furthermore we can use the Operational Energy analysis for reviewing proposed designs against operational energy targets, such as predicted fuel costs, or determining feasibility of building enhancement measures against the baseline analysis. Our familiarity and extensive experience with operational energy modelling has allowed us to work on a variety of buildings types and scales whilst allowing for a bespoke analysis according to the clients requirements.
